Santa Fe road trip!

A mere 10 hours after departing from Steamboat we rolled into Santa Fe to stay with Patrick and David. Trout did great on the long journey and the hail and torrential downpours in CO gave way to beautiful weather in NM for the holiday weekend

The Gallegos-Kellys and Rose and Trout

Road warrior

Jacknife! Rose throws a bomb into the pool at Barb & Ed's in Albuquerque during Rachel Haymes b-day shindig. Great to see everyone in the NM branch!

Alfords hike Sanitas

Rose and Trout try out the new pack from Pop & Mimi, works like a charm and has a little mirror so you can check on your passenger

Let 1200'+ climbing begin! Jen Alford provides on the spot medical advice if needed.

Rose carried TSA the whole way to the summit (probably an extra 30-35lbs). Nice work honey!

Trout's second summit, Mt. Sanitas 6,863ft

Whew, that was a tough climb!

Alford men take the lead on the descent, apparently Trout found the new pack to be pretty comfy! Beautiful day on the mountain!

Thanks Pop & Mo!

Happy Mother's Day!

Mom 'o the Year right here folks! Just look at the little weasel resplendent in his 'big boy' clothes, happy and healthy. Then consider Rose nursed him along every step, mostly alone, in a new town, no family or friends nearby, almost no $, worst winter ever in Steamboat...etc.

Helmet is maybe a bit too large/heavy for Trout still but we just had to get out on a Mother's Day spin, to work off the mimosa if nothing else...
Beautiful spring day AND the "Survivor" finale, sounds like a good day to me.

Cinco de Alfords

Get your helmet on Trout, your Grandparents are coming!

Ta da!

Chicken soup for the soul. So nice to see Pop and Mimi and catch up with all their travels. Trout took a day to relax (he is starting I think to recognize 'strangers') and get the full snuggle going but he loves Pop and Mimi. Rose and Matt even found some time to sneak away for dinner on the town.

Sunny hike along the Yampa to check out all the hot springs. Thanks for the visit and all the love!

Busy spring weekend

1st we had to wrestle Trout into submission (well, into his jacket at least) on Friday night so Moms and Pops could get out, en familia, to a restaurant for an actual meal...

Not exactly color coordinated but bundled up for the stroller over to the Old Towne Pub down the street

Someone enjoying her first dirty martini in about 2 years. Pretty amazing what Rose has put herself through to provide for the little guy, no alcohol, no broccoli, no shellfish, MSG, blue cheese, nitrates, sushi, Benadryl, etc. etc.

Trout helps Poppa eat his dinner...Thanks son. Nothing escapes his notice and very little eludes his grabby little claspers and drooly mouth either!

Then late Friday night we had a surprise visit from Uncle Brad returning from Tahoe and stuck on a WY hwy for 7 hours. Why not detour down thru Steamboat, indeed! Headed out to breakfast at Winona's Sat morning and the three of us 'adults' just managed to finish off one cinnamon roll...

Our 'officiant' hangs with our offspring. Great to hear Brad is getting hitched himself in the near future...

Sunday downed warm and sunny and we made the most of it, searching out a rumoured section of dry and snow-clear singletrack to ride on Cedar Mtn. Of course when we got there we found too much snow remaining from the May 1st storm to ride but we got in a great family hike through the snow and mud instead. Trout's first real hike, and probably last one in the Baby Bjorn, he is just too big. Time for a backpack carrier!

Near the summit of Cedar Mtn (elev 6,500ft), outside of Craig, CO.

What a fun weekend!

NOW he's teething

We're in the middle of a whiteout blizzard here in Steamboat Springs and TS Alford has taken the opportunity to start sprouting some bottom teeth! Drooling more than ever, if that is even possible, and a definite sharp bump erupting from his bottom gums. Time for us to buy a teeny tiny tooth brush I guess...
In other good news we were down to only about 30 minutes of crying last night before Trout fell asleep, and then didn't wake up for almost 9 hours...it was like heaven, I talked to my wife, read a magazine, we might have even had the volume of the tv up to an audible level for a bit!
And finally in even more good news both Rose and I have been able to get out on our mountain bikes over the last few weeks, Rose for a hot lap at the Lunch Loops near Grand Junction, Matt on a couple loops near Fruita, CO this weekend. Only about 60 days until we head to CB for the annual 4th of July pilgrimage and we're raring to get in shape!
