Merry Xmas Eve from Steamboat

Ah, all the fine traditions of Christmas! Time to introduce Trout to some of the classics, like making gingerbread men for Santa Claus (oh yeah he grasped what Santa was all about immediately!). And of course the Story of the Christmas Lobster followed by a rousing round of "lobsta" chase and "Look for the Lobsta" (hide and seek). We'll wrap it all up with Chinese takeout for Xmas Eve dinner in remembrance of the Orange Crab we ate in Santa Fe one Xmas Eve en route to Tucson. You know, standard stuff. Happy Xmas Eve to all and best wishes for a sweet haul tomorrow from Trout, Rose and Matt!

Howabout some sleet!? Yeah!

You know how you feel when Matt has perhaps, understated, the severity, accuracy or enjoyability of the endeavor you've embarked upon and slowly (or perhaps not so slowly) it dawns on you that despite the sideways sleet, daunting hill, scorching sun, lack of maps, lack of water, and/or lack of any idea where he's at it's ALL SYSTEMS GO! ? Yeah, that feeling. That's Trout's life. But remember that other feeling, the discoveries, that sense of giddiness at the pure ridiculousness of whatever you've gotten into, the fun on the other side of the sleet, the ridiculous slogs, the short to medium period(s) of complete lostness? Hopefully that will be Trout's life too! Come on!

Desert camping in Vernal, UT

Matt, Rose and Trout took a quick trip across the border to Vernal, UT this weekend to sample the mountain biking and share Trout's very first real camp out. Weather was perfect, no wind and a billion stars out at night and we enjoyed some franks and beans around a campfire, biking on the trail running through our camp spot, climbing up the local rocks and lots of sitting in the dirt looking at the beautiful scenery. Trout zipped all over on his balance bike and Matt and Rose each got out on short rides to check out the local singletrack...nice!

Quick visit to Alford, MA

I enjoyed a nice short visit at the old family homestead, with some old family no less! Thanks to Pop and Mimi for the hospitality (and the ribs, yum!) after my long drive out to the East coast from CO. Pop and I got out on a nice ride around the neighborhood as well

Beautiful visit to Stagecoach Rez

Someone is ready to roll in the sand! Great fall colors in Steamboat, perfect weather, beach all to ourselves. We're in the middle of a tough stretch with Matt travelling a lot for work, TSA caught strep throat and Rose has to handle everything solo so it was great to get out for a nice visit to a new spot and explore.
