Aunt Jen's in town! And Jen loves her some cowboy so off down the street and over the river we went for some good ol'.  Coors, cows and clowns!

Not quite ready for mutton-busting Trout did take careful notes during the bigger kids free for all on the poor sacrificial calf they tie a prize ribbon on.  100 kids vs one calf, it was reminiscent of the battle scenes in Braveheart, but with more violence.

Some folks got some goodies too, Trout got his own big boy bed (and Thomas the Train sheets) and promptly announced he didn't need to sleep in diapers anymore.  Ok then.  Rose got some kickin' new Vans sneakers from Jen and a speedy longboard to match for her birthday.  Someone's going to work in style tomorrow! Happy Birthday honey!

Happy 4th of July!!

Los Alfords went to Crested Butte for the holiday weekend along with a group of friends from across the country.  Then we rode and rode, and swam and watched the Tour, and the World Cup and also drank some margaritas...good times! Rose managed to gash open her knee real good, but kept riding, Trout learned to hold his breathe under water and Matt got out on the BIG ride, 30 miles and 3700' of climbing to Paradise Divide, one of the most scenic spots on Earth.  Happy 4th!

Those Steamboat kids are allright!  Syd and Col are the offspring of friends Jonah and Molly who invited us out for a Mexican b-day feast for Molly.  Good food, good drinks and plenty of romper room action, especially as Trout was hugger-muggering poor Colyer all over the place.

Winter Carnival & Rose takes a hut trip

Now winter is finally kicking in!  Rolled the  stroller down to the shore of the Yampa to watch the finale of the Winter Carnival, fireworks above Howelson Hill, all the hundreds of kids in the Winter Sports Club skiing down with torches and then the Lighted Man skiing down all algow with firworks launching out of his backpack...cool!This weekend Rose got out with a bunch of friends and skied into the McNamara Hut near Aspen for a few days of skiing, wine drinking and card playing.  Her heels took a beating but she had a great time anyway
