Skiing with Jen Alford

Nice visit with sister Jen on Howleson Hill about 6 blocks from the house in Steamboat Springs. Skiing with Matt in the morning and Rose in the afternoon ensured Jen got her $15 worth!

Trout helps Poppa make risotto the same way he helps Momma read a dinosaur book, by sticking everything in his mouth. Thanks Droolie! Looks like Trout is going to get his first ever plane ride in April when he heads down to Austin, TX to visit with his little Everest cousins and Grandparents while Matt heads solo for Fruita, CO for work...oh well. Sure to be some fun photos from that meeting!

Steamboat Winter Carnival

The town of Steamboat plowed all the snow back onto the Main drag for a weekend of races, kids pulled behind galloping horses, marching band on skis, etc. Pretty fun!
Rescue Dog

Trout put on his big boy pants. He got his 6 month checkup on Monday at which point he was 18lbs and 27 1/2" tall, about the 80th percentile for 6 month olds. All is in proportion though his noggin is on the big side and he needs to work on his balance and coordination skills. His social skills are very well developed, laughing, "talking" recognizing people, etc. and in another month or so we can start him on some solid foods and start taking him outside more frequently. Right now is the height of RSV (cold) season and too risky...

Allright now let's build a treehouse!

Weather was so nice and warm we tried out the Chariot stroller (thank you everyone!) for the first time, worked like a charm and Trout fell right asleep as we strolled around town and watched the races. Plenty of room in there for groceries, picnic stuff, etc. This thing is going to be great as a bike trailer too and we had our first glimpse of what our daily life could be like when the weather warms up. So far we haven't really been able to take advantage of all the nearby parks, farmers market, shops, etc. so we are really looking forward to that.

Just some of the 360" of snow that has fallen in Steamboat, ski area in the background

18lbs, 27"

According to Mom and Pops crude measurements Trout is at about the 75% for kids his age and 95% for his "adjusted age" from his due date. He gets a checkup next week (in Steamboat, yeah!) so we'll double check that but he sure seems to be thriving and maturing well. He's starting to figure out using his elbows to prop himself up (prelude to crawling in a couple months), talks alot, grabs everything and tries to put it in his mouth and is working on the rattle concept. Even though he has yet to turn 4 months/6 months he is longer than the 6-9 month clothes we have, fills the entire changing table, etc. In short, he's big!

He gets about a thousand of these per day

Steamboat continues to be buried by snow, over 300" (that's 25 feet!) so far and every day now we dig out a parking space for the car, sometimes twice if the plow comes thru before lunch time. We are looking forward to the legendary Steamboat Winter Carnival next week, ski jumpers with torches, horse races down Main St (which is covered in snow and closed to traffic), horses pulling skiers over jumps, the high school marching band parade on skis, fireworks, etc. Should be awesome!
